GSS Affiliate CRiL Receives Awards

Congratulation to GSS’s affiliate Cambridge Respiratory Innovations Limited (CRiL, which has recently gained accreditation to ISO9001 and ISO13485.

For the past two years GSS has been working closely in partnership with CRiL and Wideblue under an InnovateUK funded project to develop an innovative CO2 sensor for them for medical use.  This advanced sensor is now operational and at the heart of the N-Tidal C, an ultra fast, ultra sensitive, low cost and portable personal medical device, accurately monitoring CO2 in exhaled breath – a diagnostic/ management tool for chronic respiratory conditions.

The development programme has also involved close co-operation with Wideblue (, who have now completed the design, tooling and design for manufacturing of the N Tidal C low cost portable capnometer.  GSS has just built the first batch of sensors for incorporation by Wideblue into production quality  N-tidal C capnometer for medical use, which will subsequently be used in clinical trials with patients’ suffering from chronic respiratory conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) scheduled first quarter next year.

Professor Des Gibson, GSS director on the CRiL board, commented, “through achieving ISO13485 accreditation, CRiL are one step closer to bringing this ground breaking product to market”.
